It is a good way to get close with nature and the people you love. Being involved with nature is a great experience and one you will remember forever. While camping there are so many things you can do. You can just sit and relax around the fire and relax, cooking marshmallows and s'mores. Or you could go hiking and mountain biking on trails or roads. Swimming and boating are also great fun when camping. You can also go 4-wheeling or dirt biking if that is more your style.

Fond memories and strong bonds are formed while on camping expeditions. Lovers have become closer, the world appears fresh and new and the crispy morning sunlight that glistens off the dew on the grass, will leave you breathless. When with your family, you will find that spending so much time together and away from the “real world” of electronics and television, you will learn things about each other you have never known before.

You might want to consider going camping in another state. It could be a good experience to explore the different terrain and areas. Just remember that camping in a state park will cost money because of electrical and water hook ups, and in other places showers and bathrooms. But where ever you are going to go camping, either rustic-living of the land camping, or state park “luxury” camping, you might want to consider bringing a first aid kit. Bringing a few of your family's favorite games for the unexpected rainy day could also be a smart idea.

Maybe the best thing about camping is the fresh air and clear skies. You can look off into the horizon and not see a bunch of buildings crowding the sky line. You can also afford to take a deep, deep breath without the worries of smog and smoke, other than campfire smoke. All of the smells of the woods are clearer and you can smell a patch of wildflowers from yards away.

Camping is a great experience for all ages. Becoming closer to nature is one of the most rewarding vacations you can give your children. They will take their experiences from camping, and pass them on to their children.

Discover the amazing outdoor recreation of camping at http://www.activitiessite.com/camping/

Tell your friends about this site! Because this sport is fun and energetic it can be enjoyed by people of all ages, shapes and sizes. Most people, however, overlook the safety precautions, and are careless in taking their safety seriously, and forget little steps, like checking the weather forecast before they go out. This results in a high number of kayak related deaths each year. There can be a lot of injuries and deaths prevented if simple safety precautions are made, and the safety of the kayaker becomes a more serious matter.

One of the simpler rules to follow is this: make sure it floats. Yes, the most obvious would be making sure the kayak floats and has no holes or gashes that would cause it to sink in the middle of the lake. However, most people don't think of all of the other gear in their kayak. If your kayak rolls, most likely, all of your gear will be floating down the river, which is bad enough, but imagine if it the gear were to sink! You should put gear that isn't waterproof into waterproof containers that will float. You have to remember that if your kayak rolls, even the waterproof areas in your kayak will get water in them.

One thing you should consider carrying in your kayak at all times is a PFD. A PFD is a Personal Flotation Device. A PFD is the single most important piece of equipment you could carry with you in a kayak. Some parts of the world don't require you to bring one with you, but you should take one with you, if not wear it, anyway. They now make them to look good ad feel comfortable, while with storage pockets to hold your gear. There is no reason why you shouldn't wear a PFD for it will not only help you save your gear in a roll over, but could also save your life.

When kayaking it is good to use the buddy system. You should never paddle alone. The weather conditions could change rapidly, and things could happen that you can not handle by yourself. A buddy can help you in these situations, and could save your life.

You can also increase your safety with the gear that you carry. You should carry a compass, map, food, water, matches, flare gun, cell phone and anything else you think you might need. It will all fit into one small bag or even into the storage pockets of the PFD you should be wearing. Also, a pump is a necessity because if your kayak is full of water after rolling or capsizing you are either going to get hypothermia or you aren't going to be able to make it back to shore. Please make sure it floats because if you roll you won't be thinking of is catching your pump.

Discover everything you need to know about kayaking, kayaking vacations and kayaking equipment at http://www.allkayaking.com/

Tell your friends about this site! The cruise ship is your entertainment, dining experience and living quarters all rolled into one. These ships are meant to be floating cities and you don’t want to end up in smoggy Los Angeles when you really wanted a Neon Las Vegas do you?

Cruises can last anywhere from a few hours up to several months if one so desires to spend that much time on a ship. Some of the more popular length cruises are the three day to ten day stays. This gives guests time to explore the ship and spend plenty of time looking at the water, but lowers the risks of developing cabin fever. Often people will book a cruise to their vacation destination and stay on the land a few days or weeks then catch a cruise back home again.

In order to pick out the best cruise for you research needs to be done. You should look at all the cruise lines that take cruises to the area you are interested in, such as Alaska, or the Caribbean. Looking at the costs of cruises first will help you cross a few of the list right off the bat, but do check and see if the cruises have special deals or coupons that can help ease the budget. Check out the cruise line’s reputation, for fine dining, customer service and perhaps most important of all health and cleanliness.

After narrowing down the list to cruises that pass the quality and hygiene mark take a look at the overall atmosphere of the cruise and decide if that’s right for you. Are you looking for a gambling ship or a family fun cruise? There are even special cruises for those over fifty and the risqué nudist cruises.

Once you’ve followed these suggestions for picking a cruise you should come up with some excellent choices.

Gail Leino is known throughout the internet world as Mrs. Party. Here the beautiful birds indigenous to northern Virginia flutter and frolic without a care in the world; the pilated Woodpeckers beat a rhythmic tattoo in search of food, the goldfinches dance in the air, and the majestic eagle soars over land settled by the early fathers. Northern Virginia is a birdwatcher's paradise, literally and figuratively.

For a relaxing vacation in the great outdoors, nothing beats a serene morning of nature at play. In the Stafford area of northern Virginia, there are a number of spots away from the usual tourist traps where one can enjoy the show of beautiful summer plumage and birdsong.

Aquia Landing

A public beach in Northern Virginia? True, this area might not have the beachy feel of towns on the southern shore, but Aquia Landing offers visitors a peaceful atmosphere and ample opportunity for birdwatching.

Abel Reservoir

There's more than fish biting at this popular picnic spot. If the idea of sitting in a boat for hours in this fully-stocked lake holds no appeal, take a hike along the many trails bordering the water. Abel Reservoir is one of the most beautiful, natural spots in the county, home to many flying friends.

Washington's Ferry Farm

The former home of a great founding father has hosted nearly 100 known species of birds! So popular is this area that the farm hosts regular birding tours. The heart of the ancient Byzantium, now Istanbul is the main Turkish port, country’s industrial, commercial, educational and financial center. It’s the only city in the world situated in two continents – Europe and Asia.

The story of Istanbul foundation is fanned with legends – some say that the ancient Greek gods were involved in it – Io, escaping from Zeus found a shelter here and thus the city was established. The story that looks a little closer to reality affirms that originally it was just another Greek sea port. Then it bore a name of Byzantii. In 73 AD the city pass to the Romans, but when the Roman Empire broke up it gained its independence and later became a capital of Byzantium and changed its name to Constantinople (in honor of the emperor Constantine).

After the split of the Christianity church Constantinople became the center of Orthodox branch, while Rome remained the center of Catholicism. Arabs tried to conquer Constantinople for ages, but succeeded only in XV century. After it the city received its present name – Istanbul.

A sticking point between Christians and Muslims, Istanbul combines the best of two worlds, but now however looks more like typical orient city with mosques and bazaars. Istanbul is crossed by Bosporus strait, which separates city into European and Asian parts.

The European part of Istanbul is divided into Old and New city. New part is deprived of the historical sights and mostly attracts tourists with its clubs, restaurants and nightlife. Istanbul is a very big city inhabited by 13 millions! Unlike the most of metropolises with its skyscrapers, in Istanbul typical urban landscape dominate small three of four storey buildings mainly situated along Bosporus strait.

When you come to Istanbul it would be unwise to miss the chance to get acquainted with its rich historical and cultural heritage. The most of the ancient monuments are concentrated in the Old city – Sophia Cathedral, Blue Mosque, Theodosius wall, Topkapi palace and others. Nice airport is on of the largest in the whole France.

Few words about Nice history – the city was founded in V century BC and was named after the goddess of victory – Nika. In XIX century nice became a very popular resort for the European elite. In this period the most impressive architectural masterpieces were built – palaces, luxury villas and boulevards. Nice was especially fashionable for the winter rest, when in all other Europe it was very cold.

Nowadays a lot of this chic atmosphere has saved, and Nice is still one of the best French resorts. Modern Nice looks like some financial and commercial center, and to spend holidays there costs a little cheaper than in neighboring resorts of Azure Coast. Due to airport and direct train Paris-Nice, the city is the first resort, visitors see on Azure Coast.

The most famous attraction in Nice is Promenade des Anglais with its legendary Negresco hotel. Promenade des Anglais is a wide boulevard 6 kilometers long. It’s planted with palms and flowers and is the most popular place for walks. On the East Promenade des Anglais turns into the quai des Etats-Unis with the best Nice restaurants. Don’t miss the chance to taste the special dish – fish soup.

Nice strikes with the cozy narrow streets of the old city, greenery of the parks, fountains on the squares and the art treasures of Nice museums.

Nice is impossible to imagine without flowers, fruits and vegetables market Cours Saleya working in the morning. The market is surrounded by the restaurants and cafes.

The ancient cemetery, the largest in France the forth largest in Europe attracts a lot of visitors due to its magnificent monuments.

Among other places to see in Nice are Opera, built in 1885, Saint-Reparate church of XVII century, Cesu church – a perfect sample of neoclassical style, Justice Palace established in the end of the XIX century.

Mediterranean resort, Nice is well known for its beaches. Mostly they are pebbly, warm and clean, but beginning with the Antibe cape they become sandy. It’s common not to acquire a tan in Nice but to boast of the sun tan you’ve already had. It’s a prestigious place to show off for the rich (and not very) people.

Nice has approximately 300 sunny days a year. The combination of the rich history, soft climate, diverse nature and highly developed infrastructure places Nice on the top of the list of the best resorts.

If you like to book hotel, please visit Nice hotels page

Tell your friends about this site! Unless you're fairly well-off, you won't be able to travel regularly throughout your life until you master some discount travel techniques. The art of discount travel is more then simply one quick trick, it is an overall approach that you can, and should, apply to every element of your trip. For example, you should explore charter flights and last minute deals, etc. to get the cheapest possible airfare. Once you arrive in a foreign country, you should meet some locals and establish where the cheap places to eat and stay are. Discount travel involves a lot of small things that when applied together result in big savings, and allow even those on moderate budgets to travel regularly and enjoyably.

An important concept to get used to if you want your money to last while you are traveling in a foreign country is that of bargaining. In most foreign countries, and especially those of the second world, barging plays a big part in everyday life, and you will find yourself continually overspending if you don't participate in it.

Most North Americans are terrible at bargaining, which is not at all their fault: bargaining simply does not play much of a role in our everyday transactions, and except for large purchases like buying a car, and maybe to a lesser extent a house, most of us aren't used to it - we certainly aren't used to haggling over small items.

The first thing to understand - and a great discount travel technique - is that in the second world, everything is negotiable, and usually very heavily negotiable. If you start to bargaining, you'll soon see that the type of bargaining that goes on in other parts of the world is very different from the North American style: people often start with figures that are double or more their desired amount.

The first step in bargaining is to not be in any kind of rush to get in a taxi, or in a hotel room, or to purchase your item. Take the time to ask around, and if you can, find some locals who will (hopefully) give you an idea of a good price. The second thing to keep in mind is you have to be willing to walk away, or at least good at pretending that you're willing to walk away. Oftentimes you'll find that by simply showing a lack of interest and willingness to avoid the transaction the price will be lowered, without any need for specific bargaining on your part.

Once you get the hang of bargaining you'll find it rather easy, and in some cases fun. The main thing to keep in mind when you're in a foreign land is that your status as a North American will usually label you as rich to locals, even if it doesn't seem that way to you. If you don't want to get charged double - or more - for every single thing you do while traveling you'll have to get used to the idea of bargaining - a key component in an overall strategy towards discount travel.

Article Source: http://www.article-hangout.com
John Navata owns a travel agency in Chicago, IL. Unfortunately for those with Spanish-speaking desires, the main language of the region is actually Catalan, although most people are bilingual. As far as the cheap red wine goes, there is plenty of that, and drunken parties, but be wary of number of rip-offs that can occur when you're loose with your wallet.

How do travelers get there?: Flights from London or trains from elsewhere in Spain - or southern France - are common.

Currency: Euro

City Code: 93

Population: 205,000

Languages: Catalan but most people also speak Spanish and some English

Attractions: Church of the Sacred Family (Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia), Las Ramblas, Picasso Museum (Museu Picasso), Gothic Quarter (Barri G򴩣)

Accommodations: http://www.bootsnall.com/hostels/eu/spa/bar/,
http://www.cheaphotellinks.com/eu/spa/bar/

Tourist Office: http://www.spain.infoOff-the-beaten-path

When to go: Winter is mild along the coast and travelers can escape to the cooler temperatures in the north during the hot summer months. Have you ever kept a travel journal?

A travel journal is where you write about your personal, family and/or business travels. It can be a separate journal where you record your experiences, details, and even your feelings about your travels, creating a written record of each trip. You can also record your travels, if you already journal, in your existing journal. Just indicate that this is a record of your travels -- That can be accomplished by using a separate color of pen.

You can record…
Your feelings and experiences.
All the locations you visited.
You can include a map or draw a map.
The miles and time to travel from location to location.
Who you were with.
Who you met.
What you wore.
Would you go back? Why?
What do you want to see?
Where you stayed?
You can keep the address, phone numbers, names, etc.
What you ate? Again record the address, etc., so you can find it again.
What you saw?
Daily travel experiences, and expenses.
Favorites-hotels, campgrounds, restaurants, locations, etc.
The funniest thing that happened.
The most difficult thing that happened.

In your travel journal you can add photos, receipts, memorabilia, maps, drawings, menus, any items that you want to add, and that fit the space you have.

Travel Journals for the Children
A great tool to involve the whole family is to create a travel journal for the children. They can use a notebook and record the same items that you did, writing what their experiences were. They can also write a story telling what they experienced each day. You can create a game for them where they count the cows they see, other children they met, or towns, etc., keeping that information in their journal.

Use the idea of a travel journal to keep a written record of all your travels, all those adventures.

About the Author: Doreene Clement, is a cancer victor and author of "The 5 Year Journal," is currently writing a new book, "Blessed," about her life and her cancer experience. You don't have to buy a scale and count ounces. Just choose lighter alternatives whenever you can. Set aside your lightest jacket, socks and pants for your next trip. Simplicity, not complicated planning, is the goal.

More Light Travel Secrets

Money can replace weight. Why carry two pounds of shampoo when you can buy small bottles as you travel? It won't cost much more to buy things as you go. Also, you really don't know what you'll need, particularly on an overseas trip. Buy things as you need them, and you won't have a pile of useless things in your luggage. Don't we all regularly unpack things at home that we never once used during a trip?
Gifts and souvenirs? If you buy bulky gifts for family or friends, why carry them around for weeks? Put them in the mail.

What I Took For Six weeks in Ecuador:
• 8 pairs of thin nylon socks (less than an ounce per pair)
• 2 silk shirts for restaurants and discos (3 ounces each)
• 4 poly/cotton blend t-shirts (5-6 ounces each)
• 5 pair of light underwear (2-3 ounces each)
• 1 extra pair of lightweight slacks (9 ounces)
• Single layer nylon shorts for hiking or swimming (2 ounces)
• Thin gloves (1 ounce)
• Thin hat (1 ounce - honestly)
• Thin wool sweater (11 ounces)
• Waterproof/breathable rainsuit (14 ounces for the set)
• Light plastic camera (3 ounces)
• Sunglasses (1 ounce)
• Small chess set (3 ounces)
• Bathroom kit (5 ounces)
• Maps, notebook and various small things (3 or 4 pounds)
My pack weighed ten pounds. My wife's weighed 8 pounds. We never felt deprived. I'm not suggesting you start counting ounces (that comes from my backpacking days), or that you buy all new lightweight things. Just start setting aside your lightest shirts, socks, etc., and you can enjoy the benefits of light travel.

About The Author: Steve Gillman hit the road at sixteen, and traveled the U.S. and Mexico alone at 17. The last time my wife and I went to Ecuador, I had 10 pounds of luggage, all in one carry-on bag. Ana had just 8 pounds in her carry-on bag. We spent six weeks in Ecuador, at times on glacier-covered mountains, and at other times lounging on Pacific coast beaches.

Why travel lightweight? Simplicity. With only carry-on luggage, we were in a restaurant in Quito, while others still waited for their checked luggage. On busses our luggage was safely with us, not in the hold below being cut open, like one time when I was in Mexico. Others struggled down the street with three heavy bags, while we had our hands free and were walking comfortably with our daypacks. We had less to lose, less to be stolen, less to wait for, less to pack and unpack in hotels, and less to worry about.

Light Travel Issues

Expect an extra question or two from the customs officials at the airport (Six weeks with only this?). Also, a small bag may not work if you plan to bring back many souvenirs. In this case, you could plan to buy a second bag at some point, to carry your acquisitions. As for not having enough clothes and other things, it isn't as big a problem as you may think.

My silk shirts weigh three ounces, and travel well if rolled up. Nylon dress socks weigh less than an ounce, and are cool and comfortable. Poly-cotton blend t-shirts weigh 5 ounces. Supplex or other lightweight travel slacks weigh 9 ounces, and are sufficient for a fine restaurant or a walk in the woods. Half of what typical travel clothes weigh, these take less space, and function the same. There's no sacrifice involved here.

(Please come back and visit this blog again for part 2 of this article.)

About The Author: Steve Gillman hit the road at sixteen, and traveled the U.S. and Mexico alone at 17. Things have improved very much but it may still be a good idea to empty your stomach or bladder at every opportunity in a hotel, restaurant or department store. Public toilets and toilets in small shops can be a nose hazard!

* Useful China travel tips *
Try to get a English speaking tour guide at every opportunity you can. China has a rich and wonderful history and culture and without a guide, somehow, the flavour and significance of most tour sites can be lost. Here's a sneaky tip: Hang around a group that has a English speaking guide if you cannot afford one!

Always ask for a receipt from a taxi driver so that you can complain if you have been cheated or for tracing purposes if you happen to leave your camera behind in the taxi.

Try to take the name card for each hotel that you are staying at. These cards will have a Chinese address and the map of your hotel location. This is useful if you need to seek assistance to find your way back as the English version or pronounciation of a hotel or a street name may be quite different from the Chinese version.

After a tiring day, check out Chinese foot reflexology or Chinese TuiNa (Chinese massage). Wonderful for the body after a hard day and very cheap to boot. Simply look out for shop signs that show two feet! They are everywhere.

Make friends with the Chinese whenever you can. They love to meet foreigners and make good tour guides. Just buy a small present as a small token of appreciation.

Ken Cheong worked and lived in Mainland China for five years. Most of the time, the rooms are safe and clean and in my opinion, cheap does not mean bad. There are many websites selling China hotel rooms on the internet. You can also check out the travel counters which are available in most train, bus stations as well as airport. Book ahead if travelling in peak seasons.

Peak Tourist Seasons
Chinese New Year: Date varies but generally late January or early February. May Day: First two weeks of May China National Day: Middle two weeks of October. Avoid travelling during these periods. Book rooms and travel modes way early if you need to travel to travel during these times. Believe me, the crowds during these period of time will be scary. What do you expect when the entire Chinese nation of eight billion people are on holiday as well!

Chinese Food
Much of the local food is absolutely fabulous. Try as much Chinese food as your wallet or stomach can afford. Restaurants are available everywhere and open until late hours. Most restaurants will have a menu that includes photographs of the various dishes. Better yet, simply point at the food that your next door table is having, especially if it looks delicious! However, avoid street side stalls and drinking directly from the taps if you have delicate stomach.

Telecommunications
Mobile phone coverage in China is good in most locations. Global auto-roaming within China is not a problem.

Internet Access
There are cyber-cafes everywhere in China, especially in tourist areas. Most are patronized by young people playing online games but you still can check your Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail. Access may be a bit slow for international websites. You will need to show your passport as China has tight regulations at Internet Cyber Cafes.

(Please come back and visit this blog again for part 4 of this article.)

Ken Cheong worked and lived in Mainland China for five years. Most signboards and notices will carry both English and Chinese. However, be aware that some translations can be so notorious that one can hardly understand what was it's original Chinese intention. Do not expect hotels or shops to understand English. Only the very big hotels will have staff that will understand English. Most young people can understand basic English if you speak slowly.

Personal Security
China is generally a safe country. However, hang on tight to your wallet especially in crowded, popular tourist sites in cities such as Beijing and Xian. These tourist cities also have a lot of scam artists in the streets hitting up tourists from currency exchange to jewelery to female companionships. Avoid them at all costs!

Domestic Travel
Bus, train, ferries and domestic flights are quite well-developed. Avoid the crowd at the stations and book your tickets through the hotel tour desk or the nearest tour agent. Prices are likely to be competitive and tickets will be delivered to your hotel room. Again, avoid ticket scam artists who approach you in the streets. Local buses are cheap (US$0.10 or YS$0.20) and you may want to try out. Taxis are convenient and are available at all hours. Starting fares differ from each city and may be as cheap as US$0.70 in Weihai and US$1.50 in Shenzhen.

Avoid travel in China during peak holiday seasons or book tickets well ahead.

(Please come back and visit this blog again for parts 3 and 4 of this article.)

Ken Cheong worked and lived in Mainland China for five years. China was only partially open to the world from 1980 onwards and has been a communist country for many decades. Although there is much progress in the travel industry and the infrastructure of China, there remain areas that need to be improved before it can match the level that most tourist require.

However, much of the fun of China is that it's different from the rest of the world. China will be the host nation for the Olympics in 2008. Travel facilities and infrastructure will improve quickly as 2008 approaches.

China is rich in culture and history. Visit the Great Wall of China in Beijing, sip Chinese tea in Xiamen, dance with ethnic tribes in Yunnan, check out 19th Century European buildings in Qingdao - there is just so much to do and see in China!

Below are some travel tips to make your travel in China easier:

Entry Visa
China require entry visa from most countries. Apply at the Chinese consulate or through your travel agent before travelling to China.

Climate
Extremely diverse; tropical in south to subarctic in north. Be prepared with the right seasonal clothing.

Foreign Exchange
The unit of currency is known as Renmembi(RMB) or Yuan. Get some Chinese Yuan in your local country before travelling. When in China, exchange foreign currency for local currency in the banks or at the hotel. Banks tend to give slightly better rates than hotels. Take note that some banks close for a noon siesta between 12-2pm.

Payment Facilities
Most better class hotels and shopping centres take Credit Card or Travellers cheques. Smaller hotels and shops take cash only. Once out of the bigger cities, credit card and ATM cards tend to be almost impossible to utilize. Cash is still king in Chinese business and trade.

Counterfeit notes are common in China. Check carefully before accepting change, especially if it consists mostly 100RMB notes. You can feel a texture difference where counterfeit notes is concerned.

(Please come back and visit this blog again for parts 2, 3 and 4 of this article.)

Ken Cheong worked and lived in Mainland China for five years. I've lugged bags through airports and put up with the security issues that have become de riguer when travelling in the post 9/11 world. Business travel is okay but having a flight be four hours late knowing that I'm missing a critical meeting or deadline because I'm sitting on a plane is no fun at all.

I want to travel to faraway destinations. They don't have to be THAT far away. I don't even have to fly to get there. This holiday season between Christmas and New Years Eve I'd be thrilled to spend a few blissful days at a cozy mountain cabin with a stone fireplace, a cup of hot cocoa, fragrant pines outside the window, soft snowflakes lazily floating down and a few well-chosen books I've been dying to read.

Ernie and I will probably visit Mexico again soon. We love the south of the border culture, the music, the architecture, the food and the graciousness of the people. Now, if I could only spend a little more time brushing up on my Spanish.

Of course flying is generally the easiest way to get to your destination if you're more than a half a day away.

If you haven't had the opportunity to do a lot of travel in your lifetime - now that you're over 40 it's time to start seeing the world. It's time to start doing a few adventurous things for you. Discover the fun of making your travel fantasy come true. Enjoy that second honeymoon with the man you love overlooking the ocean sky at night from your hotel room balcony with sultry, warm breezes, a star-kissed sky and a champagne toast. If you don't deserve it - who does?

This space is also for the woman who travels alone. Yes, it's safe for women to venture alone in America and many countries abroad - but not everywhere. In some ports of call it's still a man's world. Unless you're on a spiritual pilgrammage or want to spend a week finishing your novel in a Caribbean timeshare it's more fun to share the journey with a friend.

Consider travelling with a trusted girlfriend or a family member you enjoy spending time with. You can save on packages, domestic and abroad by traveling together. Even without a package you can save on hotel rooms simply by sharing. That's a fifty percent discount. I travelled with a girlfriend when I went to Paris the week before Christmas several years ago. We had a super time running from one sight to the other and visiting some of the famous museums as well as the Eiffel Tower.

Whichever you choose - bon voyage!

This blog is provided by Denise Michaels.
